Inspections

Avoid purchasing a lemon! Get an inspection:

  • whether you are buying from a dealership or from a private seller, you want to be sure you are getting the highest quality possible for your money

  • if you are getting ready to sell your existing rig

  • if your rig needs some repairs, but you want to be sure you know everything that needs to be done so that you can prioritize, saving money and RV tech time!

While it’s impossible to give a potential buyer 100% certainty that a rig is going to operate within its designed parameters, the risk of buying a lemon are diminished greatly when you get an independent inspection.

My specialty is towable inspections.

I offer two inspection levels - Essential and Premier.

Both levels include the following:

The Essential Inspection covers the above with a thorough and efficient inspection. The Essential Inspection takes between 4-6 hours depending on the size of the rig.

The Premier Inspection is a much more rigorous and comprehensive inspection covering the above at a much more detailed level. The Premier Inspection takes between 8-10 hours depending on the size of the rig.

The Inspection Report (included in both packages) contains photographs and notes covering the overall condition of the rig. It will help you determine what fixes might be required before purchase, fix major issues prior to selling your current rig, or help you prioritize repairs and upgrades.

Tank Cleaning

Next to a major accident, a problem with the black tank is the most dreaded issue RV’ers face on the road. So most people avoid thinking about the the condition of their gray and black water tanks until they begin smelling foul odors or experience a “poo geyser”!

Get your tanks cleaned at least once a year to avoid:

  • foul odors

  • backups (“poo" geyers”)

  • corrosive build-up of struvite

  • the dreaded “toilet paper pyramid”

  • tank leaks and/or failures

I employ a state-of-the-art jet system that uses pressurized water to clean the entirety of the interior surface of your tanks.

The best part is, I come to your site! I use the park’s sewer system so there is no mess and the waste is disposed of properly.

Time: 1.5 - 2 hours

Cost: $125 - 1 tank (typical Black tank)

$225 - 2 tanks (Black and Grey)

$300 - 3 tanks (Black and 2 Grey)

Walk Throughs

A Walk Through is a personalized tutorial of the systems in your new (or “new to you”) RV.

Getting a Walk Through is particularly helpful to someone who has never owned an RV before.

Most Walk Throughs take approximately 2 hours during which I show you the major components of the RV and give you some tips to make your adventure as stress-free as possible.

I recommend writing down any questions you may have prior to any Walk Through, so that you don’t forget to ask them during the inspection. It's happened to all of us; I know it happened to my wife and I.

Time: Approx 2 hrs

Cost: $150

Fluid Analysis

I specialize in vehicles towing fifth wheels, travel trailers, cargo haulers, teardrops, etc.

Making sure the vital fluids (oil and engine coolant) in your tow vehicle are clean and still within manufacturer standards is extremely important, especially when your vehicle tows an RV.

While I was in training to become an Inspector, we had the opportunity to draw two fluids from our personal tow vehicles. I chose oil and coolant. When the results came back my oil was in range, but my coolant was at a critical level. It contained minor traces of metal and contaminants that could corrode the radiator if not flushed.

Towing an RV puts a tremendous strain on the tow vehicle. It’s better to spend a small amount of money testing your fluids than have to repair or replace an engine. In addition, if you have a baseline with the fluids, you can better gauge the time between changes.

I highly recommend that you have an analysis done at least once a year - more if you are a full-timer.

Time: Approx. 1 hour*

Cost: $100 - 1 sample

$175 - 2 samples

*It may take up to one week to send the samples to the lab and receive the results.

About Tom

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my website. I’m Tom Noonan, owner/operator of Road Home RV Services.

My wife Julie and I hit the road as RV full-timers in September, 2023. Our dream for several years was to live in an RV and leave reality behind. We haven’t quite left reality behind, but we are having a blast in our new lifestyle! As I write this, I am sitting in my office in our Grand Design Solitude in NC where we are visiting family.

Our story, and my journey to become an RV Inspector, began in March of 2023 when we went to Bartow, FL to check out a fifth wheel. When we got to the dealership, they didn’t want us to see the unit. The rig was gutted. The few repairs they thought they had to make turned into significant issues. Seems they had forgotten to take it off their website. So we thought we’d driven two hours for nothing.

Lucky for me, Julie is determined. She looked at another dealership site, and with a great deal of hope, she said, "I found one.” Yes, she did! A few hours later “Eleanor RIGby” was ours.

From there she was parked for a few months with nowhere to go. That was until I signed up for RV Fundamentals Training and RV Inspectors Training courses at the NRVTA in Athens, TX. Off we went for three weeks of classroom and hands on training.

I am now a Certified RV Inspector through the NRVIA. As an inspector I assess the overall condition of a particular RV. This is invaluable to anyone interested in purchasing a unit.

I am also certified to clean black and gray tanks. Yes, you read that correctly, I am certified in “poo”.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I’ll see you on the road!
